Dr. Craig Barclay is a Senior Lecturer at the University of Massachusetts Amherst and NHS Consultant in Oral Rehabilitation. He serves as Director of Education for Manchester Dental Education Centre and Associate Postgraduate Dean for Specialist Training. His clinical expertise spans dental implants and head/neck cancer rehabilitation.
His research focuses on dental implantology innovations, quality-of-life assessment in oncology patients using touchscreen technology, and implant recognition systems. Current investigations examine biomechanics of mini-dental implants and overdenture performance.
Recent publications demonstrate: consistent focus on implant biomechanics and prosthetic design through in vitro studies; advancements in assessing implant-supported overdenture retention; innovations in cephalometric analysis for treatment planning.
Honors include: British Research Award (Schottlander Prize), European Research Award (Dentsply Prize), and multiple North West Innovation Awards for technological innovations in dentistry.
