Craig Alexander Reid is a 2nd year part-time PhD student in Mathematics at the University of Stirling, affiliated with the Division of Computing Science and Mathematics within the Faculty of Natural Sciences.
His research focuses on infectious respiratory diseases and their control through vaccines and non-pharmaceutical interventions. Specifically, he simulates epidemics and applies game-theoretic techniques to compare different Non-Pharmaceutical Interventions (NPIs) for disease control. His work also examines international vaccine sharing dynamics using tit-for-tat game theory approaches to assess economic and health impacts.
His scientific achievements include:
- Best Mathematics Student in First Year (2018)
- Best Mathematics Student in Second Year (2019)
- IMA Prize for Outstanding Performance in a Mathematics Degree (2021)
Prior to his PhD, Mr. Reid completed his BSc in Mathematics and Education in 2021 and MSc in Mathematics and Data Science in 2022, also at the University of Stirling. During his MSc, he conducted research analyzing over 20,000 swimming races to identify performance differentiators among elite swimmers.
