Courtney Masterson is the Associate Dean of Faculty, Research, and Impact, and a Full-Time Faculty member at the University of San Francisco’s School of Management. She holds a PhD in Organizational Behavior from the University of Illinois at Chicago, an MBA from DePaul University, and a BA in Political Science from Washington University in St. Louis. Her research focuses on work-family management, women’s career mobility, dual-career couples, and employee well-being, with notable contributions to understanding intern dynamics, managerial strategies, and organizational pride. She has been recognized with awards such as the 2021 Ascendant Scholar from the Western Academy of Management and the 2021 School of Management Assistant Professor Outstanding Research Award.
Dr. Masterson actively contributes to academic leadership through roles like Co-Chair of the School of Management’s Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee (2021–present) and Program Director for Organizational Development (2020–2021). Her work bridges theoretical research and community-engaged learning, emphasizing practical applications in workplace policies and employee well-being. Recent publications explore contemporary challenges like self-ambivalence in work-family contexts and post-maternity re-entry strategies for dual-earner couples.
Her awards reflect both scholarly excellence and pedagogical innovation, including the 2019 Outstanding Teaching Award. Masterson’s research often addresses gender equity, leadership dynamics, and the intersection of work and family life, with a focus on advancing inclusive organizational practices.
