Courtney Byrd is a Full Professor and Associate Chair in the Department of Speech, Language, and Hearing Sciences at the University of Texas at Austin. She serves as Founding and Executive Director of the Arthur M. Blank Center for Stuttering Education and Research, overseeing three branches: the Michael and Tami Lang Stuttering Institute, Dealey Family Foundation Stuttering Clinic, and Dr. Jennifer and Emanuel Bodner Developmental Stuttering Lab. Her work focuses on stuttering etiology across culturally and linguistically diverse populations, treatment innovation, and clinical training.

Recent Publications (2023–2025):
Her research includes the CARE Model for stuttering treatment, virtual adaptations of therapeutic camps, psychosocial predictors in stuttering, and working memory studies. She explores self-disclosure strategies, communication competence, and employer perspectives on stuttering.
Labs & Initiatives:
Byrd founded the Bodner Developmental Stuttering Lab and the Blank Center, which provides clinical services, research, and educational programs. She pioneered Camp Dream. Speak. Live. as a resilience-building intervention for children who stutter.
