Couris Stelios

Couris Stelios is a Professor of Laser Physics & Applications at the Department of Physics, University of Patras, Greece. He holds a joint affiliation with the Institute of Chemical Engineering and High Temperature Processes (ICE-HT) of FORTH. His academic career includes roles as Associate Professor and Principal Researcher at FORTH, with extensive experience in laser physics, nonlinear optics, and materials science.

His research focuses on nonlinear optical materials, laser spectroscopy, and applications in nanomaterials such as graphene derivatives and fullerene-based compounds. He has pioneered studies on optical limiting, ultrafast phenomena in 2D materials, and laser-induced breakdown spectroscopy (LIBS) for food authentication and combustion diagnostics. Key awards include the NATO Fellowship (1988-1989) and EU Post-doctoral Grant (1987-1988).

His work spans over 200 peer-reviewed articles, emphasizing graphene-based nanomaterials, quantum well structures, and LIBS in food science. He collaborates with institutions globally, advancing optoelectronics and materials for photonics applications.
