Cosmin L. Ilut is a Professor of Economics at Duke University's Trinity College of Arts & Sciences. He holds a Ph.D. and M.A. in Economics from Northwestern University (2009 and 2005, respectively). His research focuses on macroeconomics, international finance, asset pricing, and decision-making under uncertainty, particularly exploring how ambiguity and bounded rationality influence economic outcomes. He has been a Researcher at the National Bureau of Economic Research since 2013.
His work examines topics such as diagnostic expectations, cognitive constraints in decision-making, and the macroeconomic implications of ambiguity. Notable grants include NSF-funded projects on diagnostic expectations, bounded rationality models, and ambiguity in business cycles. He teaches advanced macroeconomic analysis and international finance at Duke.
Ilut's recent publications analyze business cycle propagation mechanisms, price rigidity under uncertainty, and the role of learning in economic dynamics.
