Cosmin Ciotloș (born 1983) is a PhD Lecturer at the Faculty of Letters of the University of Bucharest and an influential figure in contemporary Romanian literary criticism. He has made significant contributions through his work as a contributor to Dilema veche magazine and his decade-long support of the main literary review column in România literară.
His research focuses on contemporary Romanian literature, particularly the eighties generation and the Monday Cenacle literary movement. Ciotloș has established himself as a leading scholar on Mircea Cărtărescu's work, producing both an annotated edition of Levantul and co-editing a major study volume on Cărtărescu's writings.
Ciotloș's publications reveal a consistent interest in the intersection of literary history, criticism, and cultural analysis. His work on the eighties generation represents a significant contribution to understanding this pivotal period in Romanian literary history, examining how it synthesized modernist traditions with emerging postmodern tendencies.
Among his notable achievements, Ciotloș received the Prize for Literary Criticism from the Institute of Linguistics and Literary History 'Sextil Pușcariu' in Cluj in 2019, recognizing the quality and impact of his scholarly contributions.
His critical approach has been praised for its originality and depth, with colleagues noting his ability to 'approach unusual themes (or at least off the beaten path), by overturning common criticism clichés, by ingenious and bibliographically supported argumentation.'
