Cory Budischak

Cory Budischak is an Associate Professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Temple University's College of Engineering. He plays a dual role in advancing sustainable energy systems and transforming engineering education. His work spans research, policy advocacy, and inclusive academic programming.

Dr. Budischak earned his doctorate in Electrical Engineering from the University of Delaware and previously served as an instructor and department chair at Delaware Technical and Community College. His research focuses on the decarbonization of energy systems, particularly the integration of wind, solar, and storage to achieve reliable, low-emission power grids. He emphasizes a holistic view of energy systems, advocating for coordinated electrification in transportation and buildings to maximize renewable utilization.

His teaching philosophy centers on innovation and accessibility, using problem-based learning, flipped classrooms, and interactive games. He teaches foundational courses such as Introduction to Engineering and specialized topics like Solving the Climate Crisis. He is also co-PI of the $1.5M NSF-funded STEPS program, supporting low-income, high-achieving electrical engineering students through scholarships and mentorship.

Dr. Budischak contributes to public policy as a member of Delaware's Governor's Energy Advisory Council, where his working group focuses on energy efficiency, transportation electrification, and building decarbonization. His publications highlight cost-effective pathways to high-renewable energy systems.
