JiangBiao He is an Associate Professor in the Min H. Kao Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. He holds affiliations with CURENT (NSF-DOE Engineering Research Center) and the Institute for Future Mobility. Previously, he was an Associate Professor and Pigman Faculty Fellow at the University of Kentucky, and a Lead Engineer at GE Global Research, where he led MW-scale hybrid-electric aircraft propulsion drive development. His research focuses on advanced motor-drive systems, power electronics for transportation electrification, renewable energy systems, and industrial automation.
Education: PhD in Electrical Engineering (Marquette University, 2015). Industrial Experience includes Rockwell Automation (servo motor drives), Eaton Corporate Research (SiC converters), and GE Global Research (aircraft propulsion systems).
Research Interests: Electric aircraft propulsion, fault-tolerant power converters, renewable energy integration, and high-power motor systems. He has authored/co-authored over 150 peer-reviewed articles, one textbook, and 10 U.S. patents.
Key Achievements: GE Whitney Technical Excellence Award (2021) for pioneering hybrid-electric aircraft propulsion work. Active in advising 10+ graduate students and leading industry-academia collaborations.
