Dr. Cornelius Schneider is a Postdoctoral Researcher and Lab Manager at the Department of Economics, University of Mannheim. He holds a PhD from the Max Planck Institute for Research on Collective Goods in Bonn and the University of Cologne. His research focuses on optimal taxation and public economics using behavioral and experimental methods. Key areas include tax evasion welfare implications, preference-driven tax policies, and the impact of government interventions on altruistic behavior.
He was a DAAD PRIME fellow at the Norwegian Centre for Taxation (NoCeT) at NHH (2021-2022). His work combines field experiments with theoretical models to address tax policy design challenges. Recent projects investigate how tax evasion opportunities can boost tax revenues and how misperceptions influence wealth taxation preferences.
