Cornelia Pearsall is a Professor of English Language and Literature at Smith College. She serves as Chair of her department and Director of the Book Studies Concentration, with affiliations in the Program for the Study of Women and Gender and advisory roles across multiple departments and concentrations.

Her research focuses on Victorian literature, particularly the dramatic monologue, war poetry, and intersections of imperialism, gender, and ecology. Current projects include Firing Lines: War Poetry and the Force of Form and Imperial Tennyson, alongside editing a Norton Critical Edition of Tennyson’s Selected Poetry.
Her recent publications emphasize interdisciplinary approaches, analyzing how historical contexts like colonialism and war shape literary form. Notable works include studies on Jane Eyre, Sylvia Plath, and Victorian elegies.
