Corinne Wieben is a Professor in the Department of History at the University of Northern Colorado (UNC), affiliated with the College of Humanities and Social Sciences. Her research focuses on medieval and Renaissance European and Mediterranean history, particularly medieval social and legal history, gender and sexuality, and magic/witchcraft. She holds a B.A. in Medieval Studies from the University of California, Davis, and both an M.A. and Ph.D. in History from the University of California, Santa Barbara.
Her academic career includes roles as an Associate Professor (2017–present), Assistant Professor (2012–2017), and Visiting Lecturer (2010–2012) at UNC. She has published extensively on topics such as medieval criminal justice, gender dynamics, and magical practices. Notable works include analyses of marriage disputes in Lucca, legal records of crime, and the intersection of religion and public order.
Dr. Wieben has received numerous awards, including the 2020 Renaissance Society of America Research Fellowship and the 2014 First Year Scholars Faculty Recognition Award. Her work often bridges legal, gender, and social history, contributing to broader understandings of medieval societal structures.
