Corinne Kyriacou, PhD, is Associate Professor of Health Professions and Graduate Director of the Master of Public Health (MPH) program at Hofstra University’s School of Health Sciences. She has played a pivotal role in shaping the program's mission and interdisciplinary curriculum since its inception in 2012. She teaches courses in health care reform, bioethics, community health program design, and research methodology, and oversees clinical internships and seminars.
Her educational background includes an MPH from New York Medical College and a PhD from the Heller School at Brandeis University, where she received a training grant from the Agency for Healthcare Research and Policy. Prior to joining Hofstra, she served as Director of Research at Metropolitan Jewish Health System in Brooklyn.
Dr. Kyriacou’s research and public engagement focus on social justice, health equity, aging, mental health, and community-based health solutions. She leads initiatives such as the 'Wait No More' project on housing for people with disabilities and collaborates with the Health and Welfare Council of Long Island on health insurance exchange outcomes. She emphasizes student involvement in all phases of research and public health campaigns.
Her work demonstrates a strong commitment to interdisciplinary public health, student mentorship, and translating field experience into academic practice. She has received the 2013 Teacher of the Year award in recognition of her excellence in teaching and mentorship.

Dr. Kyriacou is deeply committed to mentoring students and integrating them into research, policy advocacy, and community projects. She oversees graduate student internships and guides the production of the biannual student newsletter, The Bridge, which highlights student research and community engagement. She has involved students in major research initiatives and public health awareness campaigns, including Hofstra’s National Public Health Week Event Series, fostering professional development and analytical thinking.
She collaborates with key health organizations such as the Nassau County Department of Health, Nassau University Medical Center, and North Shore-LIJ Department of Pediatrics. Her lab-like environment is structured around student-faculty research teams engaged in survey design, data collection, policy analysis, and public dissemination of findings through reports and newsletters.
