معرفی
Corey E. Tarwater is an Associate Professor and the Robert B. Berry Distinguished Chair in Ecology/Ornithology at the University of Wyoming's Department of Zoology and Physiology. His research focuses on the ecology, evolution, and behavior of year-round resident birds, particularly how environmental changes impact individual fitness and population demography. He holds affiliations with the College of Agriculture, Life Sciences, and Natural Resources.
- Education: B.S. (1999) Wildlife, Fish, and Conservation Biology, UC Davis; M.S. (2006) Natural Resources, UIUC; Ph.D. (2010) Ecology, UIUC
Research interests include reproductive strategies, dispersal patterns, and seed dispersal dynamics in birds across diverse ecosystems like Panama, Hawaii, and British Columbia. Key projects examine climate impacts on tropical bird populations, invasive species effects on seed dispersal, and demographic shifts in fragmented habitats.
His work has led to prestigious awards like the Berry Chair and notable publications in Nature Climate Change and Global Change Biology. He mentors graduate students in conservation biology and ecology, emphasizing diversity and work-life balance. Recent grants include a NSF-funded project on army-ant following birds and a DoD-funded study in Hawaiian ecosystems.
- Recent Students: Sam Case (PhD), Laura (M.S.), Reina Galvan, Kelly Roberts
Labs/Teams: Avian Ecology & Behavior Lab, collaborating with institutions like STRI and Brazilian universities on Bayesian statistical modeling and long-term field projects.
