Cordelia Schmid

Cordelia Schmid is a Research Director at INRIA and heads the THOTH project-team. She holds a Hans Fischer Senior Fellowship at the Institute for Advanced Study (TUM-IAS), Technische Universität München, with an appointment starting in 2025. Her work focuses on computer vision, machine learning, and visual computing, with significant contributions to image/video description and object recognition.

• Doctorate and M.S. in Computer Science from the Institut National Polytechnique de Grenoble (INPG) and University of Karlsruhe
• Habilitation (2001) for advancing visual model learning

Her research spans image and video analysis, object recognition, and machine learning. She has served as editor-in-chief for International Journal of Computer Vision (2013–present) and program/general chair for leading conferences (CVPR, ECCV).
