Constanza Alcaino is a Researcher at the Institute of Metabolic Science, University of Cambridge. She focuses on molecular mechanisms of chemo- and mechano-sensitivity in enteroendocrine cells using patch clamp, calcium imaging, and secretion assays in human intestinal organoids.
- Education: Degree in Biology from Chile, PhD in Neuroscience at Oxford Brookes University.
- Prior Experience: Postdoctoral work at the Enteric Neuroscience Program, Mayo Clinic (US).
Her research explores ion channels and G-coupled protein receptors in nutrient-sensing within the gastrointestinal system. She collaborates with Dr. Chris Smith, Professor Fiona Gribble, and Professor Frank Reimann in the Gribble-Reimann lab.
