معرفی
Constantinos Christodoulides is an Associate Professor of Metabolic Medicine at the University of Oxford's Radcliffe Department of Medicine, and a British Heart Foundation Senior Clinical Research Fellow. His clinical practice focuses on Endocrinology and Diabetes. He holds a MBChB, FRCP, and PhD from the University of Cambridge. His multidisciplinary research investigates how obesity drives type 2 diabetes and coronary heart disease, with a focus on adipocyte biology and developmental signaling pathways (e.g., WNT and TGF-beta).
Key research areas include:
- Genetic determinants of fat distribution
- Molecular mechanisms linking adipose tissue to cardiometabolic diseases
- Translational strategies targeting obesity-related pathways (e.g., LRP5, RSPO3)
Recent studies utilize Mendelian randomization, metabolomics, and drug screening to identify therapeutic targets. Notable findings include:
- LRP5's role in adipose progenitor cell function and insulin sensitivity
- WNT and TGF-beta pathway influences on fat distribution
His work has been published in high-impact journals including Diabetes, Cell Reports, and Communications Medicine. He leads the Karpe, Hodson and Christodoulides Group within Oxford's Metabolic Research community.
Current projects explore:
- Interactions between sleep patterns and metabolic traits
- Sex differences in adiposity and metabolic outcomes
- Pharmacogenomic approaches to cardiovascular disease prevention
