Constantin Speitel is a Research Fellow at the Department of Psychology, Faculty of Social Sciences, University of Salzburg. His work bridges cognitive neuroscience and behavioral economics, focusing on causal links between brain regions and economic decision-making.
- 2007-2010: Bachelor in Psychology, University of Salzburg
- 2010-2012: Master in Psychology with specialization in "Cognitive and Brain"
- 2012: Doctoral student in DK+ Imaging the Mind PhD program
Since 2012, Speitel has served as a Senior Scientist in the Division of Work, Organizational and Economic Psychology. His research investigates frontoparietal brain areas using neurostimulation (tDCS) and EEG to analyze behaviors in economic games like the ultimatum game. The PsychoEconomic Research Lab at the university supports his experimental work.
His key publication (2019) explores the role of the right DLPFC and right TPJ in proposers and responders during ultimatum games, published in Social Cognitive and Affective Neuroscience. This study demonstrates how brain stimulation techniques can reveal neural substrates of fairness-related decisions.
