Conor Muller is a DPhil student at the University of Oxford, affiliated with Balliol College, and currently a visiting researcher at the Sciences Po Centre for History in Paris. His research focuses on challenges to migration control in Britain and France during the Revolutionary period (1802–15), employing comparative methods to explore state measures and migrant agency. He holds a MPhil in Modern British History from the University of Cambridge, funded by St Catharine's College, and undergraduate degrees from the Universities of York and Pennsylvania.
His academic journey includes fully funded doctoral studies via the Oxford-Sir Colin R. Lucas Studentship in French History. Research interests encompass colonialism, race, political economy, and social conflict, with a transnational lens. He has presented talks on topics such as displacement during the French Revolution, deportation in wartime, and the intersections of history and memory across Europe and the Atlantic.
Conor has received notable grants including the Beit Fund Research Grant (2024–26) and awards like the US Alumni Connections Award (2019). His teaching contributions include the Balliol College Floreat Access Programme in the Humanities, covering the French Revolution, Cold War protest movements, and History Faculty PLTO initiatives. Languages include English (native), French (near-fluent), and beginner proficiency in German and Spanish.
