Dr. Conor McHugh is an Associate Professor of Philosophy at the University of Southampton, specializing in ethics, epistemology, and normativity. He holds a PhD from the University of Edinburgh and previously served as a postdoctoral research fellow at the Institut Jean Nicod in Paris.
His research focuses on normativity (both epistemic and practical), reasoning frameworks, and attitudes. He is affiliated with the Southampton Ethics Centre and actively supervises PhD students. McHugh has taught undergraduate and postgraduate courses in epistemology, philosophy of mind, ethics, and logic.
He has presented at prestigious institutions including Harvard University, King's College London, and Cambridge University. His recent work explores the interplay between fitting attitudes, value theory, and rational coherence, with publications in journals like Erkenntnis, Philosophy Compass, and Aristotelian Society Supplementary Volume.
McHugh's external engagements include invited talks at conferences across Europe and North America, reflecting his international scholarly contributions to normative and epistemic philosophy.
