Connie Hassett-Walker

Connie Hassett-Walker is an Associate Professor at the School of Criminology and Criminal Justice, Criminology and Criminal Justice Department, Norwich University. She completed her Ph.D. in Criminal Justice at Rutgers University (2007), a Master's of Public Administration (Public Policy) from New York University's Wagner Graduate School, and a Bachelor of Arts in French from Rutgers University.

Her research focuses on life-course criminology, substance use disorders, and the intersection of ethnicity, race, and gender in criminal justice contexts. She has explored the impact of arrest on smoking behavior, analyzed political perceptions among Hispanic youths, and investigated the dynamics of online gun communities.

Her work has been supported by Vermont Biomedical Research Network grants, including a 2021 Pilot Award and a 2022 Project Award addressing health outcomes tied to incarceration and substance use recovery during the pandemic.

Dr. Hassett-Walker has authored two books, including Guns on the Internet (2018), and contributed to outlets like The Conversation and The Washington Post. Her publications span journals such as the Journal of Developmental and Life-Course Criminology and the Journal of Interpersonal Violence.
