Connie Dickey is a Senior Lecturer at the University of Oregon, affiliated with the Schnitzer School of Global Studies and Languages and the Department of French and Romance Languages. With a focus on French language pedagogy and historical linguistics, she supervises first-year French courses and contributes to graduate teacher training programs.
- Ph.D. in Romance Philology from University of California, Berkeley (1991)
- M.A. in Romance Linguistics from University of Washington (1982)
- B.A. in French from Portland State University (1979, High Honors)
Her research spans second-language acquisition, French phonetics, and medieval Occitan literature. Recent publications examine French dialectology, diachronic linguistics, and medieval literary analysis, reflecting her interdisciplinary engagement with language and culture.
In her teaching, she emphasizes linguistic foundations, literary interpretation, and cultural fluency. She has mentored graduate students through Syracuse University's Future Professoriate Program and trained international Fulbright Teaching Assistants in pedagogical methods.
