Colletta Moser

Colletta Moser is a Professor in the Department of Agricultural, Food, and Resource Economics at Michigan State University's College of Agriculture & Natural Resources. Her work focuses on labor economics, rural development, and policy analysis.

• Education: Ph.D. and M.S. from the University of Wisconsin; B.S. from Illinois State University.

Dr. Moser’s research spans labor economics (wage determination, collective bargaining, discrimination), rural economic development (off-farm employment, Michigan-focused initiatives), and social policy (welfare programs, displaced homemakers). Her outreach includes advising on employment programs and contributing to USDA-funded grants.

Her publications highlight rural labor challenges, e-commerce adoption in small businesses, and retiree economic impacts. Notable collaborations include work with Getachew Abatekassa and Paul Wessen on rural economies.

Teaching includes FIM 415 – Human Resource Management: Changes & Challenges, focusing on evolving labor dynamics. She has mentored graduate students through theses and dissertations.

Grants & Projects: Led initiatives under the Fund for Rural America (USDA), including multi-county extension and research programs in Michigan.
