Colleen Fisher

Dr. Colleen Fisher is an Associate Professor and MSW Program Director in the Department of Social Work at the University of Alabama at Birmingham's College of Arts and Sciences. Her research examines health disparities among marginalized populations using participatory approaches.

Her work investigates victimization and minority stress experienced by sexual- and gender-minority individuals; pathways to wellbeing for HIV-positive single mothers in poverty; and participant-driven interventions. Methodologically, she explores innovative measurement strategies and dissemination of health disparity research.

Dr. Fisher teaches research methods, program evaluation, and social justice courses at graduate/undergraduate levels. She serves on the board of the International Consortium for Social Development and editorial board for Journal of LGBT Youth.
