Colleen D Fant is an Assistant Professor at the Feinberg School of Medicine, Northwestern University, specializing in Pediatrics (Emergency Medicine). She serves as Co-Director of the Center for Global Pediatric Health, a collaboration between the Havey Institute for Global Health and Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago.
- Education: BA from Northwestern University (2008), MD and MPH from Tufts University School of Medicine (2013).
- Postgraduate Training: Pediatrics residency at Massachusetts General Hospital for Children (2016), Emergency Medicine fellowship at Northwestern University (2019).
Her research focuses on global child health, simulation-based medical education in resource-limited settings, and pediatric emergency care. She leads initiatives in international partnerships with institutions in Tanzania and Kenya, emphasizing ultrasound, trauma, and cardiology programs.
Recent publications address global pediatric surgical challenges, emergency diagnostic systems in Tanzania, and novel osteomyelitis risk scores. Her work spans interdisciplinary topics including child health equity, trauma systems, and infectious disease diagnostics.

Fant has held leadership roles in GlobeMed at Northwestern and Physicians for Human Rights mentoring. She collaborates with the Midwest Consortium of Global Child Health Educators and serves as a Guest Editor for Clinical Pediatric Emergency Medicine.
