Colin Suckling

Colin Suckling is a Visiting Professor in the Department of Pure And Applied Chemistry at the University of Strathclyde. He holds advanced degrees including BSc, PhD, and DSc, with professional affiliations such as CChem, FRSC, and FRSA. His career includes roles as Dean of Science, Deputy Principal, and Vice Principal at Strathclyde, leading strategic initiatives like the WestCHEM collaboration with the University of Glasgow, recognized by his OBE (2006).

Research focuses on heterocyclic compounds for drug development, particularly fused pyrimidines (anticancer/antiparasitic) and DNA minor groove binders (antibacterial). Recent projects include S-MGB therapeutics for fungal and parasitic infections. He has led major conferences including the 2011 International Congress of Heterocyclic Chemistry.
