Dr. Colin Storer is an Associate Professor in Modern European History at the University of Warwick's Department of History, part of the Faculty of Arts. He holds a BA in History and Politics from Keele University (1998-2001) and a PhD in Modern History from the University of Nottingham (2002-2006). His academic career includes roles at De Montfort University, the University of Nottingham, and the University of Warwick, where he has been a Senior Teaching Fellow and now Associate Professor since 2019.
Storer's research focuses on Anglo-German relations in the 19th and 20th centuries, the Weimar Republic, European cultural history (especially popular culture and media), and European folklore. He has published extensively, including A Short History of the Weimar Republic (2013, revised 2024) and Britain and the Weimar Republic: The History of a Cultural Relationship (2010). His articles explore themes like German stereotypes in literature, censorship in Weimar Germany, and transnational cultural exchanges.
Teaching responsibilities include core and specialized modules such as HI153 Making of the Modern World and HI3G7 Amity, Antagonism and Appeasement: Anglo-German Encounters. His work challenges traditional narratives of the Weimar Republic's instability, emphasizing its cultural vibrancy and complexity.
