معرفی
Colin Gilmore is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the Price Faculty of Engineering, University of Manitoba, holding a Tier 2 Canada Research Chair in Applied Electromagnetic Inversion. His work integrates electromagnetic theory with practical hardware and algorithm development for imaging obscured objects.
Education:
- PhD, University of Manitoba, 2011
Research Interests: Dr. Gilmore specializes in electromagnetic inversion systems for biomedical cancer detection, geophysical exploration, and grain storage monitoring. His expertise spans antenna design, computational modeling, and inversion algorithms to transform electromagnetic measurements into actionable images, bridging theoretical physics with real-world engineering applications.
Scientific Awards:
- 2002 Gold Medal in Electrical Engineering for highest academic standing upon graduation
- Numerous research awards from the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council (NSERC) Canada
- International Union of Radio Science Young Scientist Award (2008)
Advising and Grants: Actively recruiting graduate students, Dr. Gilmore's research is supported by NSERC grants and industry partnerships. His commercialization success with 151 Research Inc. demonstrates strong translational impact from academic research to market-ready solutions.
Labs and Teams: Leads a research group building end-to-end electromagnetic imaging systems at the University of Manitoba. Previously co-founded and served as CTO of 151 Research Inc. (2011-2018), growing it to 23 employees before its acquisition by AGCO Corporation, where his team developed commercial grain bin imaging technology.
