معرفی
Colin G. Cameron is a Research Professor in the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry at The University of Texas at Arlington. His research program focuses on developing metal-based photosensitizers for photodynamic therapy, with emphasis on ruthenium, osmium, and iridium complexes that target cancer cells and viral pathogens. Cameron leads interdisciplinary investigations spanning inorganic synthesis, photophysics, nanomedicine, and preclinical oncology.
Research explores:
- Design of hypoxia-active anticancer agents and oxygen-independent photodynamic systems
- Development of nanoformulations (liposomes, micelles) for drug delivery and imaging
- Mechanistic studies of excited-state dynamics in therapeutic metal complexes
- Applications against melanoma, pancreatic cancer, breast cancer, and coronaviruses
Awarded Senior Member status by the National Academy of Inventors (2025) and secured $1.3M NCI funding for melanoma phototherapy research. Holds co-inventorship on patents for photoactivated oral hygiene devices and buoyancy engine technology.
Service contributions include judging graduate student competitions and webmaster duties for the National Academy of Inventors (2024-present).
