Colin G King is an Associate Professor of Philosophy at Providence College's Department of Philosophy, within the College of Arts and Sciences. He holds a Ph.D. in Ancient Philosophy from Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin (2009), an M.A. in Philosophy from the same institution (2002), and a B.A. in Philosophy from Colgate University (1995). His research focuses on ancient philosophy, metaphysics, classical rhetoric, and interdisciplinary studies at the intersection of philosophy and science.
Key research areas include Aristotle's metaphysical frameworks, the evolution of categorization systems in 19th-century philosophy, and textual analysis of paradoxography. His work bridges historical scholarship with contemporary debates, particularly in logic and argumentation theory.
King has secured grants from the Max-Planck-Institute for the History of Science (2017) and the Committee on Aid to Faculty Research (2015–2016). His publications include books on Aristotle's Categories and paradoxography, as well as peer-reviewed articles in journals like Topoi and Antiquorum Philosophia. He actively contributes to academic service through roles on university committees and as a journal reviewer.
