معرفی
Colin E Adams is a Professor of Freshwater Ecology at the University of Glasgow's School of Biodiversity, One Health and Veterinary Medicine. His primary affiliation is with the Scottish Centre for Ecology & the Natural Environment. His research focuses on freshwater fish ecology, conservation genetics, and the behavioral and physiological adaptations of species like Atlantic salmon and Arctic charr. He has extensive experience in tracking migratory fish movements using biotelemetry and studying the impacts of environmental and anthropogenic factors on aquatic ecosystems.
Prof. Adams' work integrates field studies, genomics, and experimental approaches to address questions about species conservation, population dynamics, and ecological resilience. Key areas include the effects of habitat fragmentation, climate change, and human infrastructure on fish migration success. He collaborates widely with institutions across the UK and Ireland, contributing to both academic research and applied conservation projects.
His recent research highlights include studies on Atlantic salmon smolt migration patterns, the genetic structuring of brown trout populations, and the ecological consequences of hydroelectric impoundments. He has authored over 150 peer-reviewed articles, consistently focusing on freshwater biodiversity and sustainable management practices.
