Dr. Colin Bailey is an Associate Professor in the Department of Humanities at MacEwan University's Faculty of Arts and Science. He earned his PhD from the University of British Columbia (2006), MA from McMaster University (2002), and BA (Honours in Classics) from the University of Calgary.
- Current research focuses on Greek responses to Roman rule and the Second Sophistic, including studies of Dio Chrysostom, Plutarch, and Aelius Aristides.
- Expertise in Greek Epigraphy, Roman Greece, and Classical Greek and Latin literatures.
He has contributed to the Encyclopaedia of Conflict in Greece and Rome and received the SSHRC Connections Grant in 2018. His teaching includes courses like Classics 110: Early World History I, Classics 221: Greek and Roman Literature, and advanced Roman history seminars. Dr. Bailey is available to supervise senior students' independent study projects.
