Dr. Cody Ross Pitts is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Chemistry at the University of California, Davis. He leads the CRP Laboratory focusing on synthetic and physical organic chemistry at the intersection of method development, reagent design, and mechanistic studies.
His research program explores fundamental reactivity paradigms including C-C bond activation, C-O bond formation, and development of novel fluorinated functional groups. Current investigations focus on radical-based transformations and strain-release functionalization strategies.
Professor Pitts received his PhD from Johns Hopkins University (2017) and completed postdoctoral fellowships at ETH Zurich and Scripps Research Institute. His work has been recognized with NIH and ETH Postdoctoral Fellowships. Recent publications demonstrate extensive contributions to fluorination chemistry, with articles frequently appearing in Angewandte Chemie and JACS.
His laboratory investigates reaction mechanisms using both experimental and computational approaches, with special emphasis on fluorine-containing compounds and their unique properties.
