Cody Clemens is an Assistant Professor of Instruction in the Department of Management at Ohio University’s College of Business, serving as Program Coordinator & Facilitator of the Leadership Launchpad Program. His research focuses on health communication, business communication, and gender/sexuality studies, employing qualitative methods like autoethnography. He holds a Ph.D. in Media & Communication from Bowling Green State University (2020), an M.B.A. from Youngstown State University (2024), an M.A. in Corporate Communication from Duquesne University (2015), and a B.A. in Organizational Communication from Marietta College (2013).
Research Interests: Clemens explores healthcare access challenges, identity negotiation in medical settings, and team communication methodologies. His work bridges autoethnography with organizational studies, addressing topics like chronic illness narratives and Belbin Team Roles applications in corporate training. He has published in Health Communication, Journal of Communication Pedagogy, and Routledge’s Handbook of Communication Training.
Awards & Recognition: Recipient of the 2024 McCoy Endowed Professorship of Teaching Excellence, 2023 Edward G. Harness Educator Award, and National Communication Association’s Rising Star (2019) and Top Reviewer (2017/2020) awards. Recognized as one of Delta Tau Delta’s 2021 “40 Under 40” alumni.
Consulting & Service: Senior Consultant at Smartt Strategies LLC, specializing in Belbin Team Roles training for organizations like NAVAIR Weapons Division. Served as Ohio Communication Association President (2022-2024), editorial board member for Journal of Autoethnography, and peer reviewer for NCA and ISAN conferences. Active in Delta Tau Delta alumni leadership since 2018.
