Cocky Eek is a Lecturer at the ArtScience Interfaculty of the Royal Conservatoire and Royal Academy of Art in The Hague since 2011. She holds a Fashion Design degree from the Utrecht School of the Arts (1993) and a Master in European Fashion and Textiles Design (1994). Her work spans experimental fashion, interactive environments, and interdisciplinary collaborations.
Research interests include wearable technology, responsive architecture, human-plant relations, and lightweight spatial compositions. Notable projects include the Kuma Guna series (Dutch Design Award-nominated), the FoAM collective’s Boskoi urban foraging initiative (Prix Ars Electronica Honorary Mention), and the inflatable Sphaerae pavilion (presented at Ars Electronica and Today’s Art Festival).
She co-founded FoAM Amsterdam (2005), focusing on human-plant interrelations, and collaborates with scientists and media designers on projects like Tgarden and TxOom. Current affiliations include the Lectorate Design’s Deep Futures Research Group (2023-2024). Her work has been showcased globally, including at the Oerol Festival, International Kite Festival in Weifang, and Shanghai’s Frame theater piece.
