معرفی
Clivel Charlton is a Professor and Director of the Center for Molecular and Behavioral Neuroscience at Meharry Medical College's School of Medicine. His research spans Neuroscience, Pharmacology, Biochemistry, and Cancer Biology with a primary focus on neurodegenerative disorders.
Dr. Charlton's research centers on Parkinson's disease, Alzheimer's disease, and Amyotrophic-Lateral-Sclerosis-Parkinson’s Dementia-Complex (ALS-PDC). He investigates prenatal origins of neurodegeneration, dopamine system dysfunction, and molecular mechanisms in basal ganglia disorders using mouse models and NIH-funded studies on methanol exposure and L-dopa therapy.
He directs two major NIH-funded projects: the Prenatal basis of ALS-PDC and the Methamphetamine Research Program. As Center Director, he oversees research on dopamine metabolism, methylation reactions, and neurotoxic compound formation in Parkinson's disease models. His work has significant implications for understanding therapeutic interventions in neurodegenerative conditions.
