Dr Clive H Griffin is a retired University Lecturer in Latin American Literature at the University of Oxford and a Fellow of Trinity College. He also serves as a Lecturer in Spanish at Worcester College. His academic background includes an M.A. and D.Phil. His research focuses on Spanish American literature of the 20th century, with special emphasis on Mexico, Colombia, Chile, and Peru, alongside the history of the printed book in 16th-century Spain and Spanish America. He teaches first-year literature courses and Spanish language in his affiliated colleges, contributing to the Faculty of History and Modern Languages (FHS) through specialized lectures on Spanish American literature.
His publications span monographs on the intersection of print culture and religious institutions in early modern Spain, co-edited volumes on Golden Age balladry, and critical analyses of seminal works like Mariano Azuela’s *Los de abajo* and Gabriel García Márquez’s *One Hundred Years of Solitude*. His work bridges literary analysis with material history, particularly examining how book production shaped cultural and religious discourses in colonial contexts.
Dr Griffin has supervised graduate students in Spanish American literature and the history of 16th-century book production. His research often intersects with themes of censorship, labor history, and transatlantic cultural exchange. He maintains strong ties to Trinity College and Worcester College through his teaching and administrative roles.
