Dr. Clio Berry is a Reader in Applied Mental Health Science (equivalent to Associate Professor) at Brighton and Sussex Medical School, a joint institution of the University of Brighton and University of Sussex. She holds appointments in the Department of Primary Care and Public Health and maintains affiliations with the Social Recovery Therapy research group and Sussex Psychosis Research interest Group. Previously, she held research positions at the University of Sussex and Sussex Partnership NHS Foundation Trust after completing her PhD in Clinical Psychology at Sussex.
Her research examines critical challenges in youth/student mental health, focusing on:
- Psychosis recovery mechanisms and voice-hearing experiences
- Social disability interventions for vulnerable populations
- Hope-centered clinical approaches in depression treatment
- Implementation of mental health services in educational settings
- Cross-cultural mental health conceptualizations
Recent publications demonstrate strong focus on:
- Mental health in academic environments (particularly doctoral researchers)
