Clint Hansen

Clint Hansen is an Indigenous Pre-Doctoral Research Fellow and PhD candidate in Environmental Engineering at RMIT University. His research focuses on protecting the cultural and ecological values of water in coal seam gas-affected areas of Central Queensland, blending traditional Indigenous knowledge with scientific methods. Hansen holds a BEng (H1) and completed his Honours in Sustainable Systems Engineering in 2020.

Research Interests: Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander land/water management, public health, sustainable engineering, and UN SDGs (Clean Water, Climate Action). His work emphasizes Indigenous water sovereignty and systemic justice for communities impacted by resource extraction.

Key Achievements:

• Won the Deputy Vice-Chancellor’s Tullamareena Prize (2020) for academic excellence.
• Contributed to policy changes via submissions to the Environmental Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act, halting a proposed water release.

Engagement: Collaborates with Indigenous communities, Elders, and interdisciplinary teams to integrate cultural values with scientific practices. Advocates for Indigenous voices in natural resource management and policy.
