Professional Overview
Clint Bracknell is a Professor at the Conservatorium of Music, University of Western Australia. As a Noongar song-maker, composer, and researcher, he specializes in connections between song, language, and landscapes. His work focuses on improving Indigenous community access to intangible cultural heritage. Bracknell serves as Chair of the Australian Institute of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Studies (AIATSIS) Council and is an elected Fellow of the Australian Academy of the Humanities.
Research Focus
Bracknell's interdisciplinary research spans applied linguistics, ethnomusicology, ecomusicology, popular music studies, Australian studies, and Indigenous studies. He leads projects including the Mayakeniny Noongar performance resource website development and has co-translated world-first Indigenous language works in film and theatre. His creative output includes music releases under the name Maatakitj.
