Clint Bruce is an Associate Professor at Université Sainte-Anne in Nova Scotia, Canada, where he holds the Canada Research Chair in Acadian and Transnational Studies (CRÉAcT) and serves as Director of the North/South Observatory. He also co-directs Port Acadie, an interdisciplinary journal in Acadian studies. Originally from Louisiana, Bruce earned his PhD in Francophone Studies from Brown University (2013) and a Master of Education from the City University of New York (2009), with two bachelor's degrees from Centenary College of Louisiana (2002).
Bruce's research focuses on cultural transnationalism, particularly as it relates to the Acadian diaspora, the French-speaking Atlantic world, and Creole Louisiana. His interdisciplinary approach combines historical research, cultural studies, and ethnographic methods. He has published extensively on Acadian and Francophone identities, including his critically acclaimed bilingual edition Afro-Creole Poetry in French from Louisiana's Radical Civil War-Era Newspapers (2020), which won the Lois Roth Award for Translation from the Modern Language Association.
His scholarly work reveals consistent engagement with transnational connections, diaspora studies, and the complex relationships between Louisiana and Maritime Acadian communities. Bruce's publications span literary analysis, historical studies, and sociolinguistic research, demonstrating his commitment to interdisciplinary scholarship that bridges academic and public knowledge mobilization. His research program examines topics such as town twinning, culinary transfers, and Acadian emigration to New England.
