معرفی
Dr. Cliff Riebe is a Professor in the Department of Geology and Geophysics at the University of Wyoming. His research focuses on Critical Zone Science and Earth Surface Processes, utilizing methods such as cosmogenic nuclides, geochemical analysis, and geophysical imaging. He leads the NSF-funded Bedrock Critical Zone Collaboration Network, exploring linkages between subsurface weathering and surface processes across mountainous landscapes in the U.S.
Education: PhD in Geology from the University of California, Berkeley (2000); BSE in Civil Engineering from the University of Michigan (1992, summa cum laude).
Research Interests: Quantitative analysis of erosion, weathering, and regolith formation; interactions between biogeochemical cycles and landscapes; and the role of physical and chemical processes in shaping Earth's dynamic surface. His work integrates field measurements, laboratory analyses, and theoretical modeling.
Teaching: Courses include Environmental Data Analysis, Capstone, and Writing Science. Emphasizes hands-on fieldwork, problem-solving, and preparing students for real-world geological challenges.
Recent Contributions: Led studies on sediment size correlations with bedrock fractures, climate impacts on weathering rates, and dust nutrient supply to ecosystems. Collaborates with top scientists across institutions on transdisciplinary projects.
Labs: Oversees cosmogenic nuclide and materials characterization labs, providing facilities for mineral dissolution, geochemical analysis, and geophysical imaging. Open to collaborators on select projects.
