Dr. Clemence O'Connor is a Lecturer at the University of Aberdeen’s School of Language, Literature, Music and Visual Culture. She holds an Agrégation from Paris IV Sorbonne/ENS Ulm and a PhD from the University of St Andrews. Her research focuses on postwar French poetry’s intersections with visual culture, philosophy, and translation studies, particularly in bilingual contexts like Welsh-French poet Heather Dohollau. She has curated exhibitions linking poetry with visual arts and transnational mobility in the oil and gas industry.
Teaching responsibilities include undergraduate French language and cultural studies courses. She has secured grants for events such as the Heather Dohollau poetry tour and Women In French In Scotland. Awards include the 2008 Gapper Graduate Essay Prize runner-up. She actively participates in institutional committees, including the Parents and Carers Equality Network and Athena Swan initiatives.
