Clayton Thyne is Professor and Associate Dean of Academic Affairs in the Department of Political Science at the University of Kentucky. He founded and directed the Peace Studies certificate program and currently serves as Department Chair.
His research investigates civil conflict dynamics, coups d'état, regime transitions, and international education. Current work examines how domestic and international factors influence coup outcomes and regime trajectories.
Publications demonstrate consistent focus on political instability mechanisms, with recent work differentiating democratic versus authoritarian coups and analyzing protest-coup connections. Methodologically employs quantitative analysis of global datasets.
