Clayton Maddox is an Assistant Professor of Tuba and Euphonium and Assistant Director of Bands at the University of South Alabama's Department of Music. He is a distinguished soloist, chamber musician, and educator with international performance experience and leadership roles in professional ensembles.

His research focuses on brass instrument pedagogy, chamber ensemble development, and cross-cultural musical performance. As a Huel D. Perkins Fellow at LSU, he emphasized performance excellence and educational outreach.
Clayton has received recognition for recording excellence and actively competes in international competitions. His professional collaborations include:
- Founding member of Boreas Quartet
- Music director of Backburner Tuba and Euphonium Collective
- Performances with Jacksonville Symphony Orchestra, Tuscaloosa Symphony Orchestra, and Orquesta de Sinfonica (Monterrey, Mexico)
- International solo recitals at Yamaha Ginza Headquarters (Tokyo) and Sapporo Clock Tower (Japan)
Prior to his current role, he taught at Arkansas Tech University and Henderson State University. His mentors include renowned tubists Demondrae Thurman, Paul Weikle, James Jenkins, and Joseph Skillen.
