Claudius Wagemann is a Part-time Professor at the Florence School of Transnational Governance, European University Institute, and concurrently serves as a Full Professor of Political Science Methods at Goethe University Frankfurt, Germany. At Goethe University, he previously held the position of Dean of Studies and currently acts as deputy chair of the university-wide accreditation commission. His academic background includes a PhD from the European University Institute (2005) and undergraduate studies at the University of Constance (1998).
From 2005 to 2012, he worked at the Italian Institute of Human Sciences in Florence (now part of Scuola Normale Superiore), where he organized the political science PhD program and taught methodology courses. During this period, he collaborated on research projects at the EUI and with international institutions including New York University Florence.
Wagemann's research specializes in methodological approaches to political science, particularly Qualitative Comparative Analysis (QCA). His substantive interests include organized interests, movement parties, democratic quality, and governance frameworks. He currently coordinates the international research project PRODEM and collaborates on the GOVRUS governance initiative.
His scholarly publications focus on political methodology, governance structures, and democratic quality, employing configurative and comparative approaches to analyze complex political phenomena across various institutional contexts.
