Claudiu Raicu is a Professor of Mathematics at the University of Notre Dame, affiliated with the College of Science. His research focuses on Algebraic Geometry, Commutative Algebra, and Representation Theory, with particular emphasis on syzygies, Koszul cohomology, and determinantal varieties. He holds a Ph.D. from UC Berkeley (2011) and a B.S. from the University of Bucharest (2007).
He has held positions at Princeton University (2011–2014) and was a Postdoctoral Scholar at MSRI (2013). His awards include the Sloan Research Fellowship (2016–2019), Lucian Bădescu Prize (2024), and several NSF grants. Raicu has authored over 40 research articles, with recent work on resonance schemes, local cohomology, and determinantal varieties.
His teaching includes advanced courses such as Basic Algebra I/II, Introduction to Algebraic Geometry, and Homological Commutative Algebra. He advises several graduate students and has organized conferences like the Midwest Algebraic Geometry Conference and thematic programs at Notre Dame and MSRI. His service includes editorial roles and organizing seminars on topics like syzygies and toric varieties.
