Claudiu Forgaci

Claudiu Forgaci is an Assistant Professor of Urban Design at Delft University of Technology, working within the Architecture and the Built Environment faculty. He holds additional positions as a Research Fellow at the Amsterdam Institute for Advanced Metropolitan Solutions (AMS) and as a Member of the 4TU Centre for Resilience Engineering (4TU.RE).

Dr. Forgaci's research focuses on urban resilience, climate change adaptation, social-ecological integration, urban river corridors, spatial morphology, spatial big data, design-driven research, mixed-methods research, and transdisciplinarity. His work combines urban design and planning, landscape architecture and architecture in a multi-scalar approach to urbanism. He develops methods, techniques, and instruments for spatial assessment, planning and design of urban spaces, with particular emphasis on green and blue infrastructure solutions and nature-based solutions.

His recent publications demonstrate a strong trajectory toward transdisciplinary approaches that bridge urban design with ecological and social considerations. The research spans from theoretical frameworks to practical applications in cities worldwide including Rotterdam, Chennai, Bucharest, and Saudi Arabia, showing increasing sophistication in addressing complex urban challenges through integrated design solutions.

As a member of the 4TU Centre for Resilience Engineering, Dr. Forgaci contributes to a network of researchers working on resilience across multiple domains.
