Claudia Moreno, MD, is an Assistant Professor of Child Psychiatry at Yale University School of Medicine and holds dual roles as Medical Director for Psychiatric Emergencies at Yale New Haven Hospital (YNHH) Children’s Hospital ED and Medical Director for the Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Consultation & Liaison Service. She is also the Associate Medical Director of Yale Intensive In-Home Child & Adolescent Psychiatric Services (IICAPS) and a consultant for ACCESS-Mental Health. Fluent in Spanish and English, she specializes in addressing mental health needs in emergency and inpatient settings, focusing on conditions like eating disorders, anxiety, and psychosis.
Dr. Moreno graduated from the University of Puerto Rico with her MD in 2004, completed a general surgery internship before transitioning to psychiatry, and trained in child & adolescent psychiatry at Yale Child Study Center. Her research addresses pediatric mental health system challenges, including emergency department wait times and post-pandemic eating disorder trends. She actively contributes to medical education by supervising trainees across disciplines.
Her clinical expertise includes evidence-based therapies such as CBT and psychopharmacology, alongside culturally informed care practices. Dr. Moreno’s work emphasizes improving access to mental health services through collaborative community programs and system-level interventions.
