Claudia M. Testa is a Professor of Neurology at the UNC School of Medicine, where she serves as Division Chief for Precision Medicine and Neurogenetics and Founding Director of the UNC Huntington Disease Program. Her work bridges clinical practice and translational research in movement disorders, with a focus on genetically based therapies and interdisciplinary care models.
- Education: MD and PhD in Neuroscience from University of Michigan; MSCR from Emory University; CPGS in Engineering from Cambridge
- Clinical Expertise: Huntington disease, tremor, dystonia, ataxia, Parkinson disease
- Research Themes: Phenotype-genotype interactions in neurodegeneration, essential tremor phenotyping, genetic risk factor discovery
Her academic contributions span clinical informatics, gene therapy, and translational medicine. Current research prioritizes:
- Developing transdisciplinary care for neurogenetic disorders
- Advancing genetic therapeutic clinical trials in North Carolina
- Improving tremor and parkinsonism phenotyping
- Exploring bioethics in precision medicine
She actively collaborates on clinical trials and systems biology projects, with publications covering Huntington disease management, tremor classification, and anticholinergic medication impacts in Parkinson's disease.
